Dental Implants

The permanent, natural-looking solution for missing teeth and a confident smile.

Restore Your Smile with Dental Implants

A missing tooth can affect more than just your appearance; it impacts how you speak, eat, and how your remaining teeth stay aligned. While bridges and dentures are excellent options, dental implants offer a permanent, independent solution that mimics the structure of a natural tooth. At McMinn Dental Center, we provide high-quality implant restorations that look, feel, and function just like your original teeth.

What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that acts as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth. Because titanium is biocompatible, it fuses with your jawbone to create a sturdy foundation. Once the implant has healed, a custom-crafted dental crown is attached to the top, filling the gap with a restoration that is virtually indistinguishable from your natural smile.

Advantages of Dental Implants

There are several key benefits to choosing implants over other restorative methods:

  • Bone Preservation: Implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that typically occurs when a tooth is missing.
  • Stability: Unlike removable appliances, implants are fixed in place. You can eat, talk, and laugh without worrying about shifting or slipping.
  • Tooth Preservation: Unlike dental bridges, implants do not require the reduction of adjacent healthy teeth for support.
  • Durability: With proper care and oral hygiene, dental implants can last a lifetime.

The Dental Implant Process

Restoring your smile with an implant is a precise process that typically requires a few stages to ensure the best long-term results:

1. Evaluation and Planning:

The McMinn team performs a comprehensive exam, including digital imaging, to determine if you have sufficient bone density to support an implant and to create a customized treatment plan.

2. Implant Placement:

The titanium post is surgically placed into the bone. Over the next few months, a process called osseointegration occurs, where the bone grows around the implant to secure it.

3. Abutment and Crown Attachment:

Once the implant is fully integrated, a small connector called an abutment is placed on the post. Finally, we attach your custom-made porcelain crown, designed to match the color and shape of your surrounding teeth perfectly.

Caring for Your Dental Implant

Caring for an implant is just as easy as caring for natural teeth. A consistent routine of twice-daily brushing and daily flossing, combined with regular professional cleanings at McMinn Dental Center, will keep your implant and your gums healthy for years to come.
